AFR for CFM56-3 HPT Stage 1 Vane
In 1994, Chromalloy developed an Airfoil Replacement (AFR) Repair for the CFM56-3 HPT Stage 1 Vane. These parts were investment cast with intricate internal cooling patterns to reduce base material temperatures. In addition, film cooling holes on the airfoils and platforms were EDM or laser drilled. Since 2002, Chromalloy has shipped over 30,000 of these vanes to commercial airlines and the U.S. Air Force. In total, these vanes have accrued over 14 million hours of operation.
