Chromalloy's newly expanded Thailand facility provides gas turbine engine operators in the region with additional services including replacement parts, advanced repairs and coatings.
The new facility is the result of a $2.7 million investment and adds to Chromalloy's Industrial Gas Turbine and aerospace turbine engine service operation in Thailand. The expansion doubles Chromalloy's capacity for component repair and coatings to better serve customers in the region.
Turbine Services Thailand, which is wholly owned by Chromalloy, repaired on average 1,200 industrial gas turbine engine components each month. With the expansion, the company has doubled its workspace, doubled its capacity and added additional advanced coating and heat treatment processes.
In addition to advanced heat treatment at the new facility, the service center houses two vacuum furnaces for critical rejuvenation heat treatments and advanced high temperature braze repairs. It also houses advanced coating systems - three robotically-controlled, state-of-the-art High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) and Air Plasma Spray (APS) thermal spray systems. The expansion also offers surface finishing technology for peening and polishing coatings, High Temperature Braze applications and other surfaces.
This facility now allows Chromalloy to offer turbine engine operators a full-service technology repair center capable of repairing E and F Class frame repairs at a single service center.
The 13,500 square-foot facility also includes new equipment for aircraft gas turbine engine repair, and is adjacent to the existing 14,000 square-foot facility occupied by Turbine Services. In total, the company's service and repair center at Lamlukka, Bangkok, offers more than 94,500 square feet of operation, providing service for aviation and industrial gas turbine engine service and repair.
