Orlando gears up for 2014 POWER-GEN International

Drawing more than 22,000 participants from around the world, POWER-GEN International will be held in Orlando, Florida, Dec. 9-11. The largest industry conference and exhibition of its kind will feature experts addressing forecasts and trends, competitive power generation, gas turbine technologies, plant performance, maintenance strategies and other topics.

Chromalloy will exhibit a full line of gas turbine engine manufactured and cast parts, component services, preventive maintenance solutions, 24/7 field services and more. POWER-GEN International participants are invited to visit Chromalloy at Booth 1001.

The POWER-GEN conference agenda includes the Competitive Power College Pre-Conference Workshops, 12 conference tracks, a plenary session and series of mega sessions.

Keynote and featured speakers are David Walsh, President and CEO, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas; Mauricio Gutierrez, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, NRG Energy; Kimberly S. New York turbine center appoints operations director

Chromalloy's Orangeburg, New York, turbine engine manufacturing and repair center has named Don Huth as Director of Operations. Huth has a strong operations track record in the engine OEM and aftermarket environments and joins Chromalloy from Eaton Corporation where he was Manufacturing Center of Excellence MMCI Manager.

Earlier Huth worked at Barnes Aerospace as Division Manager and prior to that was Supply Chain Manager at Meggitt Aerospace. He began his career and spent several years in operations and leadership roles in the AlliedSignal / Honeywell aircraft engine business, including several years as Business Unit Director for the Hardware Product Group (HPG).

Huth holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Phoenix and is a certified Six Sigma Lean Enterprise Expert, a Leadership Six Sigma Black Belt, a Six Sigma Green Belt and a Program Management Professional. He holds certification in Customer Excellence and Lean Enterprise Systems.

 
 

New engineering director appointed at Phoenix, Arizona

Chromalloy's engine component service center in Phoenix, Arizona, has appointed Ben Sommerville as the new Director of Engineering. Prior to Chromalloy, Sommerville was Senior Program Manager at Alliant Techsystems where he led technical development and production programs for the medium-caliber cannon business.

Earlier he was Chief Operating Officer at Phoenix Logistics, a supplier of data transmission and electronic interconnect products for military and commercial aviation. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at M-DOT Aerospace, Deluge Inc., and Honeywell Aerospace. At Honeywell Sommerville held technical and engineering roles over a 15-year period. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Northern Arizona University and an MBA from Arizona State University.

 
 

Dubai World Central to host Aerospace Supply Chain Summit

The Aerospace Supply Chain Summit 2014 conference and exhibition will be held at the Dubai World Central Conference Hall Dec. 10-11, offering plenary sessions, industry expert presentations and networking opportunities. Registered participants include representatives from aircraft manufacturers, airlines, component manufacturers, and supply chain and MRO providers.

Speakers will address topics on the commercial aircraft supply chain, procurement trends and a supply chain forecast.
